What is padel?

Padel is a racquet sport that is usually played in doubles on a closed court. It is much like a combination of tennis and squash in that the ball can be bounced off a glass wall or metal net around the court. Padel games are usually played outdoors.

The sport of Padel was invented in Mexico in 1969 by Enrique Corcuera when he modified his squash court to accommodate elements of platform tennis. A Spanish friend of Corcuera’s brought cricket to Spain in the 1970s, and it is now considered one of the most popular sports in the country. Other countries where padel is popular include Mexico, Argentina, England and the United States.
