When we talk about padel’s global expansion, the conversation usually centres on Western Europe, Latin America, or the Middle East. But a quieter — and potentially significant — story is unfolding in Central Asia.
Kazakhstan: Leading the Charge
Kazakhstan is emerging as the region’s padel hub. The country now has a growing community of more than 1,500 active players and 16 regional federations . Seventeen modern courts are already in operation. By 2027, the new ADD Padel Arena in Almaty — featuring 10 international-standard courts — will become one of Central Asia’s most advanced venues, capable of hosting Premier Padel tournaments.
The momentum is real. In April 2026, Almaty hosted the first-ever FIP Gold tournament in Central Asia — a milestone that attracted top players including Martin Di Nenno and Momo Gonzalez. The Kazakh government is treating padel as a strategic asset; President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev himself met with FIP President Luigi Carraro and Premier Padel Chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi to discuss the sport’s development.
The country is also building grassroots infrastructure. One project plans to open a centre with four indoor courts by summer 2026, followed by a second complex with seven indoor and four outdoor courts.
Uzbekistan: Building from the Ground Up
Uzbekistan is following a similar path. In August 2025, the Uzbekistan Squash and Padel Federation was officially inaugurated in Tashkent. With backing from the Minister of Sport and the National Olympic Committee, the federation aims to promote these sports across the country. New courts are already opening in Tashkent, and investors entering early have an opportunity to build brand awareness and community.
Kyrgyzstan: Joining the Movement
Even Kyrgyzstan is getting involved. Bishkek has approved a 299 million som project (approximately $3.2 million USD) to reconstruct a covered tennis complex that will include a padel tennis court, expanding racket sports opportunities for residents.
A Market at the Starting Line
Central Asia’s padel market is still in its infancy — but that’s precisely what makes it compelling. The region has a young, active population, a growing middle class, and governments willing to invest in sports infrastructure. Kazakhstan has already demonstrated that with targeted investment and strategic vision, a country can build a competitive racket sports programme.
For facility owners, developers, and investors, the opportunity is clear: get in early, build quality, and grow with the market.
